About Us
Hello my name is Penni Bubb and I am the founder of The Mushroom Theatre Company
and our charity The Equal People Theatre Company. I have been teaching dance and
drama in schools, college's and theatre schools for more years than I'd like to remember
as well as having 'a proper job' some of the time. I decided to start my own company
after much nagging by my husband and friends, mainly because I was disillusioned
with the way the performing arts where delivered in mainstream education. I wanted
an environment where children and young people could enjoy the performing arts without
the pressure of examinations and test. Our emphasis is on performance and expression
building self esteem and team work. Skills that are so valuable for adult life..
I know that my own four children have benefited greatly from their involvement in
The Mushroom and especially from our work with people with special needs. Most of
